PreSchool Horseback Riding

Please note that Anne teaches preschool horseback riding, as well as youth/adults, which can be scheduled through this page."

ABOUT:
Evan Logan with Elsie RoseWe are offer a Young Riders preschool horseback riding program where your child will experience first hand riding instruction. We suit our instruction to each child and keep things easy, basic - and at their level. And fun! Our primary focus for the youngest riders is establishing balance while riding and gaining self confidence. As they grow, so do the lessons. We move into establishing a strong voice to command their steed to listen and empowers them that their voice can be heard. We work on good hands and seat - both extremely important skills for riding as well as life.

We limit the lesson for ages 3-5 to our short 15 minute space (the younger ones just don't understand saddling or bridling). Ages 5 (or so), up to 7 can do our half hour riding which will include a little about horses and horsemanship and at about age 8 we move them up to full riding lessons which include instruction in saddling & bridling as well as grooming.
Once children are a little more comfortable with their horse, parent/child rides are an option as well.

THE FARM IS CLOSING DOWN FOR OUR MOVE.

WILLOWS EDGE FARM IS MOVING AND CLOSING DOWN FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2011. PLEASE FOLLOW US THROUGH OUR BLOG OR OUR FACEBOOK PAGE FOR UPDATES!

COSTS:
15 minute lessons, $15. Riding time is typically about 12 minutes.
30 minute lessons, $30. Riding time is typically about 25 minutes.
60 minute lessons, $45. Riding time is typically about 25-30 minutes and 20-25 minutes of horsemanship instruction (50 total).

We have some loaner helmets for your first ride, but you must provide some sort of boots for your child. Please note: we do NOT use chemical sprays in between children using helmets. It's not good for our environment or our children. Rubber boots are fine but must be well fitted and have a minimum of 1/2 inch heel to them.

Affordable helmets and boots can be found at Olson's in Bellevue.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
riding lessons bothellAnne Skoog
Anne started riding horses at the age of two, successfully showing in her first horse show at the age of 4. When Anne was 9, the family moved to Monroe, bought a small farm and bought their first horses. Anne has shown in 4-H, FFA, Zone “A”, and regional Breed shows. Although she learned to ride Saddle Seat on gaited horses, she quickly changed to Hunt Seat and Western Pleasure. Anne currently owns and trains American Paint Horses and American Quarter Horses, but has quickly fallen in love with the Norwegian Fjord. Their loving personality and soft temperaments have won her over.

Anne loves being able to share her riding experience with others and has been teaching lessons to "young" horse people for over 10 years. Being trained to ride by a traditional Horse Whisperer, Anne’s logical approach to teaching lessons is to seek balance and trust between horse and rider. The Fjord horse allows Anne to teach young pre-school and elementary students in a safe and trusting environment. The ground work is laid at a young age to help in the successful future of any riding career. Anne teaches on Tuesdays & Wednesdays currently and can be contacted by email at anneskoog @ comcast . net(remove the spaces) or by calling her at: 425.501.0127.
