BABY! BABY! BABY!!

We are giddy with joy! Elsie Rose has FINALLY Skjønn Tiproduced the first Fair Acres Ole foal born on the West coast.
Although due on 2/25, little Willows Skjønn Ti finally made her arrival on Monday, March 16th around 1pm. No one was present at Ti's birth - Elsie knew we had just left to run some errands and again wanted to slip a foal in without us being there. But when we got home, we looked at the monitor and sure enough - BABY! She was still wet and shivering when we got out to the barn - so we brought out some towels to wrap around her and assist in the drying process.

You're probably asking yourself, what the heck does that name mean, right? Well, first it is pronounced, Skjønn Tishunn tee and the translation is beautiful (or lovely) ten. Her due date was 2/25, our 10th Anniversary. How fitting! Fjord horses are also evaluted on a 1-10 scale, ten being perfect - how lovely! We knew this was her name when we saw her without a doubt. As you can see, she's already bringing momma's head and stunning ear tips to the mix. And look at that shoulder - Daddy's specialty! Skjønn Ti
Here she is thinking about socializing with Scott and Chelsea - what a sweet little girl.

Willows Skjønn Ti will no doubt be one of the highlights of our upcoming Open Barn ...

Riding Lessons

Lessons on Norwegian Fjord horses are popular! Their quiet, easy going manners really help those who are timid or shy. Horseback riding - especially for young girls - can be such a huge confidence booster as well as motivation factor. We cannot begin to tell you the number of girls who we've seen blossom into these amazing young ladies, full of confidence, ready to take on the world! Where else can a young lady take on something that weighs in around 1000 pounds, tell it what to do, make it listen and also bond with it? Need we say more?
We specialize in teaching beginners through intermediate students and love to share the joy of horseback riding and keep it as affordable as possible for all to enjoy. Spring Break is right around the corner and we have limited days and times available.

"Your method of teaching was encouraging and empowering and seemed to make the children feel right at home on your horse's back! You sparked an interest and love of horses!" Lynne B.

Ole and Lena Joke
Crazy as it seems, our Ole and Lena joke was a popular hit in our last newsletter. Sad, but no Ole and Lena joke this quarter. Instead we've got a good Norwegian joke we think you'll like.

Ten Commandments: Minnesota Style
1. Der's only one God, ya know.
2. Don't make that fish on your mantle an idol.
3. Cussing ain't Minnesota nice.
4. Go to church even when you're up nort.
5. Honor your folks.
6. Don't kill. Catch and release.
7. There is only one Lena for every Ole. No cheatin'.
8. If it ain't your lutefisk, don't take it.
9. Don't be braggin' about how much snow ya shoveled.
10. Keep your mind off your neighbor's hotdish.

And with that, we come to the close of this quarter's, Willows Hoof Beats. If you liked it, please pass it on to a couple other people who may enjoy bits or pieces of it as well.
